About Gallatin Gateway, MT

Gallatin Gateway is located in Gallatin County, Montana. It’s situated along U.S. Route 191 in the valley of the Gallatin River, a north-flowing tributary of the Missouri River.  US 191 leads north, then east 13 miles to Bozeman and south 28 miles to Big Sky. Salesville was one of the pioneer towns named after Z. Sales who secured a sawmill started by J. J. Tomlinson. With his family, he established the town on his property. In 1927, the name of the town was changed to  Gallatin Gateway. Originally famous for dude and guest ranches, today the area welcomes visitors on their way to Big Sky, West Yellowstone, and Yellowstone National Park.
